What is Linear? 

Linear is a finish developed by Logic Bespoke in response to several landscape architects and specifiers who felt that Corten was becoming overused.  Linear is made from galvanized mild steel, making it corrosion-resistant.  After galvanizing, the steel undergoes a two-part treatment to achieve its final appearance.

The linear pattern features a mottled gray and navy post-industrial aesthetic.  Under bright sunlight, shades of red and pink can be seen.

Corten steel to stainless steel welding

When exposed to the elements, corten steel will develop a rust-like appearance on its surface. Food and medical applications use stainless steel which does not corrode.

Corten steel could corrode and fail prematurely if the filler metal has a lower corrosion resistance than stainless steel.

Welding Corten steel to mild steel properly requires E309L Stick Welding Rod or ER309L TIG-MIG Filler Wire. The stainless steel material is less diluted when it is welded with low heat input when using E309L Stick Welding Rod or ER309L TIG-MIG Filler Wire.

A wire brush or grinder should be used to remove any paint, grease, or dirt from the surfaces that will be welded before welding.
